Fun Bee Facts & Finds
THE BUZZ ABOUT BEES
Honeybees communicate with one another by dancing.
The queen bee can live up to 5 years and is busiest of all the bees.
Honey is widely known for its antiseptic properties and healing agents.
To collect 1 kg of honey, a hive of bees would need to fly 90,000 miles.
A honeybee visits 50 to 100 flowers during a single collection trip.
You can receive a substantial tax deduction for farming bees.
Bees aren't just a way of life. They keep life alive.

RECIPES & REMEDIES
Take honey straight in 1/2 tsp to 2 tsp doses to suppress a cough or make a cough syrup like this:
1 1/2 tablespoons lemon zest
1/4 cup sliced ginger
1 cup water
1 cup honey
1/2 cup lemon juice
Add all ingredients except honey to a small pan and bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes. Strain. Heat honey on low making sure it doesn't boil, then stir into the mixture.
Take 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp every two hours.
Honey promotes healing and in some cases, gets rid of and prevents infection. You can apply honey directly to a wound or to the dressing.
When used directly, apply 15 to 30 milliliters to the wound, then cover with sterile gauze and bandages. Change the dressing every 12 to 48 hours.
(Note: Generally speaking, the darker the honey, the stronger its antibacterial and antioxidant powers.)
